Thinking Together

…how can I help you?

Sessions for Young People

I offer a fast response 4 session intervention for adolescents and young adults. This treatment can be very helpful at times of crisis, change or a sense of feeling stuck. These packages begin with a single consultation with no obligation to continue.

Supervision

I have worked with babies, children, adolescents and families for many years, mostly in the NHS. I provide supervision for clinicians and trainees including art and play therapists working in education, local authority and charities.

Parenting & Family Issues

I am able to provide family therapy and parenting consultations to help strengthen relationships. It can be very difficult to understand your children at times – including when they are adults, and it is not unusual for everyone to feel worried, angry or guilty. Sometimes couples have different parenting styles, and this can cause confusion, resentment or conflict in families. Sibling relationships can be complex and sometimes families experience  major ruptures. This work can be with individuals, couples, family groups or parent-child dyads.

Pre & Post Natal Work

Pregnancy and the arrival of a new baby can be a very unsettling time and cause considerable psychological upheaval. I work with perinatal issues, including adjustment to pregnancy or parenthood, fear of childbirth, birthing trauma, post natal anxiety, low mood. I can also help with bonding issues or managing a baby who is difficult to soothe. Fathers and couples are very welcome.

Life Cycle Adjustments

Family lifecycle changes can feel disorientating and stir up strong feelings. These can be ordinary, expected and positive changes such as the arrival of a baby, children starting school, adolescents moving towards independence, adult children leaving home, retirement. They can also be difficult developments like relationship breakdown, redundancy, illness and death of a loved one. Such profound changes can have a considerable emotional impact, and having a space to think this through with someone outside of  your network can help with processing and adjustment.

General Psychotherapy

Time limited and open ended therapeutic interventions offered for a range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, OCD, gender issues, addiction, trauma, work stress, unhappy childhood memories, bereavement, relationship problems.

What to expect

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy understands that we can not always know why we think or behave in the ways that we do. The process enables therapist and client to explore unconscious processes and how we have been influenced by previous experiences and relationships. Psychotherapy can be helpful for many mental health issues, to help process troubling times in life, and for personal growth.

All of the treatments I offer start with a single consultation to discuss options.

2023 prices: £70 per session (50 mins), £250 for a 4 session young person intervention, £90 for couples or family work.
